DETERMINATION OF SEED YIELD AND SOME CHARACTERISTICS OF CERTAIN FENUGREEK (Trigonella foenicum graecum L.) LINES IN HATAY

This study was carried out for two years during the 1996-1997 and 1997-1998 winter growing season aiming to determine seed yield potential and some characteristics of selected 35 fenugreek lines under Hatay ecological conditions. During the studies, the plant height (92.5-139.6 cm), the number of branches per plant (3.58-5.60), the number of pods per plant(22.00-44.92), the pod length (12.38-16.40 cm), the number of seed per plant (11.61-15.23), the thousand seed weight (12.23- 18.58 g), and the seed yield (132.3-220.1 kg/da) of fenugreek lines were investigated and the lines 34, 35, 32 and 20 were found to be the most suitable promising lines for Hatay ecological conditions.
