Abstract

The stability performance of genotypes in a broad range of environments is of notable importance in the development of improved cultivars. Data of grain yield of eight bread wheat genotypes grown in five environments were used to assess the effectiveness of different stability statistics in measuring stability of genotypes. The estimates of stability statistics varied with genotypes, indicating marked stability differences among genotypes. None of the statistics was significantly correlated with mean yield. The Si² and CV, statistics were highly correlated with each other as well as with b. The relative rankings of the genotypes for W, and o, were exactly the same.
