Abstract

Six Aegean tobacco genotypes were crossed and the anthers of the F, plants were cultured. Haploid plantlets were produced and they were treated with Acenaphthene for chromosome doubling. One hundred dihaploid lines obtained were grown in progeny rows in 1995. Twenty eight dihaploid lines shared statistically the same group with the high yielding cultivar Karabağlar 6265 for cured leaf yield. Twenty five dihaploid lines were statistically in the same group with Ege 64 which had the highest total reducing sugar content.
