Relationships between Protein Percentage, Grain Yield and Plant Height in Durum Wheat
Necdet BUDAK
Abstract
The objective of the study was to determine the relationships among the protein content, grain yield and plant height in certain durum wheat cultivars grown in Turkey. The forty-seven durum wheat cultivars were grown in a randomized complete block design with two replications in 1996-97 and 1997-98 growing seasons at Bornova. Data including protein content, plot grain yield and plant height was used to estimate the means, ranges and correlation coefficients for these traits. The results indicated that there were not any significant correlation coefficients among the traits except that the one (r=0.41) between protein content and plant height. The cultivars with high grain yield and protein content were selected in order to recommend to macaroni industry and farmers.
